Number 8: Bleach

The cover of Bleach

Look at me being a hipster, not choosing Nevermind or In Utero as my favorite Nirvana album. But really, Bleach is more raw and heavy compared to their later albums (even though In Utero was pretty heavy), which makes me enjoy it that much more than their others, from tracks like Negative Creep and Mr. Moustache, to more "standard" grungy tracks like About A Girl and Blew, and even the weird stuff like Paper Cuts, Bleach really doesn't feel like any other Nirvana album, and I say that in the best possible way, gives this album its own identity that the other albums can't quite reach. While In Utero also got pretty "raw", especially compared to Nevermind, it's more of a different kind compared to what Bleach does, Bleach is raw in a way that like, a hardcore punk band is with how rough and unfiltered the instruments and vocals are sound-wise compared to In Utero being moreso like a "mental anguish" raw, albeit a justified one given through all that Kurt was going through when he was writing it. But regardless, Bleach is definitely an album you should listen to if you haven't already, makes me wish Nirvana stuck to this style fully than going a little more polished with their next album, although Nervermind is still a great album too, just doesn't hit as hard as Bleach does.
